Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz is also known by the name Winona Ryder is a native of Winona Minnesota. She was named by her parents after the town in which she was born. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's father was born into an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Ryder has a younger brother Uria as well as two half siblings Jubal as well as Sunyata. Ryder's parents moved out of Mendocino County to California at the age of seven young. The family was in a house that didn't have electric power. Ryder was a voracious bookworm and spent most of her time studying books since she had no TV. Ryder, then 12, took up a place at the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in 1983. In the year she turned 15, Ryder was offered a part in Lucas her first big film. Ryder was bullied in high school. The hope was that her career in acting would alter this. It didn't work out. Her dream was pursued. Her breakthrough was in 1988 when she appeared in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder kept playing successful roles in a variety of films. There were two Academy Awards were nominated, one for The Age of Innocence (1996).
